The Newington Hotel sits proud aside the Royal Approach, the historical entrance route to medieval York. We are located close to the city centre and all the attractions that York has to offer.

A relaxed ambience pervades throughout the cosy bar and lounges. The intimate cellar restaurant serves a fixed price dinner menu that changes daily, offering a style of cookery that uses traditional English fare presented with a hint of modernity. Be sure to arrange an early dinner so that you can make the short stroll into York to enjoy the varied evening entertainment.

Room information

There are a variety of bedroom styles all with private facilities ranging from single, twin and double bedded to family rooms sleeping 3 or 4 guests. There is a lift to all the main floors. In addition, feature rooms boast a four-poster bed and jacuzzi bath. Most rooms have views over the racecourse.

The intimate Cellar Restaurant serves a fixed price dinner menu that changes daily.

Throughout the year, York's busy events calendar includes the Food and Drink Festival, St. Nicholas Christmas Fayre, Viking Festival and the Early Music Festival. You will quickly discover why York is regarded as England's best historic city.

Tourists information

From a1 North / South and a19 North / South join the a64. Take sign for York West the a1036 (Tadcaster Road). Follow the signs to the city centre. The Newington Hotel is at the foot of the hill, Mount Vale, on the right after the Racecourse.

Remarks

All room reservations to be guaranteed by a valid credit card with expiry and three digit security code. Full prepayment is required for all special promotional package bookings. In the event of a cancellation more than three days prior to arrival, the deposit will be held for three calendar months as credit against an alternative visit within that three month period. All reservations will be held until 18:00 hours on the day of arrival then released unless otherwise notified. Holiday Cancellation Plan is recommended. Details are available.

The Newington Hotel operates a no smoking policy throughout. A mandatory charge of £50 per contravention will be applied to the account.

Cancellation policy

Cancellation Policy: If cancelled up to 2 days before date of arrival, no fee will be charged.
If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the first night will be charged.

Children and Extra Bed Policy: All children are welcome.
All children under 3 years stay free of charge when using existing bedding.
All children under 2 years are charged GBP 3.50 per night and person for cots.
All older children or adults are charged GBP 25.00 per night and person for extra beds.
Maximum capacity of extra beds in a room is 4.
Maximum capacity of babycots in a room is 1.

Deposit Policy: A fixed amount of GBP 50 per room will be charged on the day of booking and is non-refundable.
