This luxurious, privately owned hotel is situated in its own grounds in York city centre.

The Churchill Hotel is a superbly converted Georgian residence retaining many of its original features and characteristics, yet we have been sympathetically extended and lavishly refurbished to provide the comforts and facilities demanded by the discerning traveller.

We offer our guests extremely comfortable, stylish bedrooms, all of which have modern en suite facilities.

Our Piano Bar and restaurant combine the historic with the contemporary and are relaxing areas in which to enjoy a pre-dinner drink before a superb meal from our locally sourced menu.

At the heart of the building is the atrium with its stunning, original, cantilever staircase and equally amazing bookcase. Here you can put your feet up with a good book or keep in touch on the hidden computers provided for your use.

We also provide disabled access, facilities and a suitably equipped bedroom. We have lift access to 24 of our 32 bedrooms. All bedrooms are non smoking.

Room information

All the rooms at The Churchill have a unique feel to them and offer a luxurious and convenient place to relax during your stay.

Many of the rooms have four-poster beds and all have en suite spa baths or showers. Each room also includes a colour television, direct-dial telephone, hair dryer and tea and coffee making facilities.

All linen and towels are provided, whilst an ironing and laundering service is available upon request.

Access to guest rooms is available at all times.

Breakfast is served from 7:30 until 9:30
Dinner is served from 18:00 until 20:30

Area information

York Minster (800 metres) - easily York's greatest and most famous attraction, the Minster is the largest Gothic cathedral in Northern Europe.

National Railway Museum (1.6 km / 1 mile) - the world's biggest railway museum houses 'The Workshop', 'The Warehouse' and 'The Working Railway', providing a packed visit full of learning and interaction for the family.

Jorvik Viking Centre (2.5 km / 1.6 miles) - detailing York's rich Viking past, using hundreds of exhibits. Visitors can even be transported through a reconstruction of the actual Viking-Age streets which stood on the site 1000 years ago.

By Car:
From the M1 (northbound):
- Exit the M1 at junction 32 onto the M18.
- Exit the M18 at junction 2 for the A1(M).
- Bear left onto the A1 (Aberford Bypass) and return to the A1(M).
- Exit at junction 44 for the A64.
- Exit the A64 for the A19 (towards York).
- Bear right onto Cemetery Road.
- Bear left onto Foss Islands Road.
- Bear left at Jewbury.
- Continue on and turn left at Gillygate.
- Turn right at Bootham, where the hotel is situated.

Remarks

The restaurant closes at 20:30 on Sundays.

Cancellation policy

Cancellation Policy: If cancelled up to 1 day before the date of arrival, no fee will be charged.
If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the first night will be charged.

Children and Extra Bed Policy: All children are welcome.
All children under 3 years stay free of charge when using existing bedding.
All children under 2 years are charged GBP 10.00 per night and person for cots.
All older children or adults are charged GBP 10.00 per night and person for extra beds.
Maximum capacity of extra beds/babycots in a room is 2.
