Drawing inspiration from the natural abundance of our hills, vales and coastline, the award winning chefs at our Victorian chop house, Monty’s Grill, combine the freshest seasonal ingredients with balanced flavours and simple cooking to produce outstanding meat and fish dishes all year round.

Recently awarded an AA Rosette for fine cuisine, Monty’s is all about the food of Old England, including tender Longhorn beef, sweet and delicious Gloucestershire Old Spot pork, succulent saddles of Wensleydale lamb and fresh Whitby fish and lobsters.

To complement our menu, we have an excellent wine and champagne list for you to choose from.

We are open each day for breakfast, lunch and dinner (from 08:00 to 22:00).

If you feel like chilling out for an hour or so, then head for our relaxation suite, where you will find a sauna, hot tub, plunge shower, tanning booth, exercise equipment and MTV. Towels are provided.

Room information

All our rooms have sumptuous hand crafted beds with Georgian and early Victorian antique furnishings. Our interior designers have carefully blended the traditional with the contemporary style. Our Relaxation Suite has Hot Tub, Sauna, Plunge Shower, Tanning Booth and Exercise Equipment.

Tourists information

From Leeds via the a64 - Travel East on the A64. Take the A1237 (York North & Thirsk). Continue for 5 miles following sign to Thirsk (A19). At the roundabout that intersects the A19, turn right (signposted York Centre A19). Continue for 2 miles. Turn left onto St Peter's Grove, opposite St Peter's School.

From the South M1 and A1 - Travel North on the M1. At junction 32, take the M18 link to A1 North. At junction 2, take the A1 North. Continue until the sign marked York A64. Then follow the directions as shown above.

From the East (Scarborough, Bridlington and Hull) - Follow the A1237 (outer ring road) signposted to Thirsk. At the intersection of the A19, turn to York City Centre. Continue for 2 miles. Turn left onto St Peter's Grove, opposite St Peter's School. From Selby via the A19 - Go into York and follow the inner ring road signs in the direction of Thirsk A19. Continue round to the North side. When you reach the sign to Thirsk A19, pointing to the right, follow this road for 600 yards. Turn right onto St Peter's Grove, opposite St Peter's School. From York Railway Station - Turn left out of the station towards the Minster. Cross the River Ouse via Lendal Bridge. Turn left into Museum Street. At the A19 (Bootham) turn left. Continue for 600 yards. Turn right onto St Peter's Grove, opposite St Peter's School.

Remarks

Guests are required to lodge their vehicle's keys with reception, in case a vehicle should need to be moved.

Cancellation policy

Cancellation Policy: If cancelled up to 2 days before date of arrival, no fee will be charged.
If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the first night will be charged.
