This prime location is near the Riviera conference centre, with the town centre and beach being a gentle stroll away. In 2006 we have been awarded a Commended certificate in Torbay's 'Bay in Bloom' 2006 competition.

The Newburgh is the ideal guest house in which to unwind, whether it be for a full fortnight, week, long weekend or short midweek break. The pictures shown of the Newburgh were taken recently and are therefore accurate, although the front will actually be improving as the newly planted area comes into its own.

For your special occasion of any kind, a welcoming bouquet of flowers can be arranged.

For your cleanliness and comfort, the Newburgh is a non-smoking guest house.

As the Newburgh is a family-run guest house we do not accept bookings from stag or hen parties, or from same sex groups of more than 2.

Room information

We have 3 double en suite, one twin en suite, one family triple en suite and one single en suite at the Newburgh. All of our rooms were refurbished in January 2007, tastefully decorated and furnished to a high standard. We think you will find our guesthouse a comfortable place in which to stay.

Area information

Ideally located in a quiet road directly off of the Belgrave Road, at the seafront end, you will find the Newburgh nestled in amongst a short terrace of early Victorian properties (built in 1861).

Approximately 280 metres from the beach via a reasonably level walk; approximately 90 metres from the Riviera centre; a few minutes more to the town and Torquay's fabulous harbour.

Dartmoor and the beautiful South Devon coastline are there to be discovered, a few minutes away by car.

From the guest house you will enjoy one of the most advantageous positions in Torquay, on the level, very convenient and yet set away from the hubbub created by one of the most successful resorts in Europe. Remember that Torquay is often better seen out of main season and has lots to offer.

The Newburgh is close to the train and coach station.

Tourists information

From the end of the m5 motorway onto the a380 and follow the signs to Torquay. Follow directions to the seafront. Pass open space of grass and gardens on your left. At traffic lights keep in left lane. Turn left onto Belgave road (The Belgrave Hotel will be on your right). Continue to Belgrave road a short distance and you will see a large green hotel called The Cavendish, turn immediately right after the Cavendish onto Scarborough Road. The newburgh guesthouse is the second property on your left, recently painted pale pink. Parking is unrestricted on Scarborough Rd, and on the adjoining Croft Road too.

Cancellation costs:
IMPORTANT: In any case the guesthouse will endeavor to re let your accommodation and these charges may not apply.

You are advised to take out travel insurance to cover yourself, in the event of unforeseen circumstances arising.

The guest house reserves the right to cancel a booking forthwith and without liability on its part in the event of damage or destruction to the guest house, any shortage of labour or food supplies, or any other cause beyond the control of the guest house. In such an event, the guest house will refund the deposit made but will have no further liability to the guest.

The guest house does not accept responsibility for loss of or damage to motor cars or other vehicles of any kind, or any property lost in them whilst the vehicle is parked on the guest house premises. The guest house does not accept any responsibility for loss of or damage to any cash, money, jewellery or other articles of value whilst on the guest house premises.

Cancellation policy

Cancellation Policy: If cancelled up to 7 days before date of arrival, the first night will be charged.
If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the total price of the reservation will be charged.

Children and Extra Bed Policy: Children older than 4 years are welcome.
One child from 4 to 12 years is charged 50 % of the room stay per night and person when using existing bedding.
There is no capacity for extra beds/cots in the room.

Deposit Policy: A fixed amount of GBP 50 per room will be charged on the day of booking and is non-refundable.

VAT and city/tourist taxes: VAT is included.
Service charge is included.
City/tourist tax is not applicable.

Internet: No internet access available.

Meal Plan: Breakfast is included in the room rate.

Parking: Free Public parking is possible on streets nearby (reservation is not possible).
