This hotel offers a friendly welcome to the city centre of Newcastle upon Tyne, close to bars, clubs and restaurants.

The Surtees Hotel has 27 rooms, along with 2 conference rooms which can host both small and large meetings or functions. There is a 24-hour reception and a licensed bar.

It is situated only a few minutes from the central railway station and the Eldon Square shopping centre.

Room information

Surtees Hotel compromises of 27 non-smoking bedrooms with a range of single, double, twin and triple rooms. All rooms include en suite bath and shower facilities. Please see individual room details for a complete list of facilities available in each room.

Food and beverages

Surtees Hotel offers breakfast each morning between 07:00 and 09:30 Monday to Saturday and between 08:00 and 10:30 Sundays and bank holiday Mondays. This is served in our pleasant a spacious breakfast room 'The Gallery'.

At present Surtees Hotel does not have a restaurant serving any meals other than breakfast.

For Meetings and functions buffets can be aranged upon request.

Area information

Surtees Hotel is located only a stones throw from High Street shopping and Eldon Square, Europe's first ever city centre shopping mall. A short distance from local musuems & art galleries & within easy reach of the universities. Whilst staying with us you may wish to take a stroll along the Quayside a few minutes walk from the hotel. The Quayside is one of Newcastle's most picturesque areas, especially at night. Home to the famous Tyne Bridge and the more recent Millenium Eye Bridge. The Quayside is home to The Sage and The Baltic and boasts an array off tourist attractions, stylish bars, restaurants and nightclubs to suit a variety of tastes. Approx. a 10 minute walk and you can experience the leisure complex 'The Gate' which offers a cinema, casino and more bars and restaurants. A short bus ride across the river will take you on a shopping experience to remember at the major indoor shopping centre 'The Metrocentre'.

Tourists information

Surtees Hotel is based in the city centre and is accessible using most modes of transport. It is easy to reach from the airport by car or public transport, and only a short walk from the central railway, metro and bus stations.

By Car:
From the North (A1):
- Take the A1 and continue onto the A167 for city centre.
- Exit for the city centre south (A186).
- Continue through the underpass into the city centre.
- Exit the roundabout for the A193 (Wallsend, South Shields).
- Enter the left hand lane and take the slip road approaching The Swan House roundabout (Bar Box/Metro Radio in middle).
- Take the 3rd exit off the roundabout onto Mosley Street and turn left at the traffic lights onto Dean Street.
- Continue under the arch on the left as if entering the car park, and the hotel entrance is on your right.

From the South (A1/A19):
- Follow the A1M/A19 and exit onto A167 Gateshead.
- Continue through Gateshead and after about 3 miles the road becomes a dual carriageway flyover and filters down to traffic lights.
- Continue straight ahead over the Tyne Bridge and take the left slip road up to Swan House roundabout.
- Take the 1st exit onto Mosley Street and continue as above.

From the West (A69):
- Follow the A69 until the A1 is signposted at the large roundabout.
- Exit for the A1 North and continue onto the A167.
- Continue using the North directions above.

By Air:
Newcastle International Airport is approximately 8 miles away. You can take a taxi or metro, which is about a 20 minute journey.

Remarks

As from 1st July 2007, by law this is a non-smoking hotel.

The hotel is not ideal for all disabled travellers as there are a few steps leading to the entrance of the hotel. Once access is gained there is a lift to all floors.

Cancellation policy

Cancellation Policy: If cancelled up to 1 day before the date of arrival, no fee will be charged.
If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the first night will be charged.

Children and Extra Bed Policy: All children are welcome.
All children under 6 years stay free of charge when using existing bedding.
All children under 2 years stay free of charge for cots.
There is no capacity for extra beds in the room.
Maximum capacity of babycots in a room is 1.

Deposit Policy: No deposit will be charged.

VAT and city/tourist taxes: VAT is included.
